Inspiration Board {Summer Fun & Games}

We are focusing on things to love about summer this week, and for today's Wedding Wednesday, we have an inspiration board for a celebration that fully embraces the season.

This wedding would be a playful, afternoon affair for close family and friends. Both ceremony and reception would take place outside, and the day would be filled with classic games including croquet and badminton.

The decor for this event would be colorful and cheerful, while the food would be simple and reflective of the season with items such as burgers, blueberries, and ice cream on the menu.

This month, the sketch was created by the fabulously talented Kerry. It was a lot of fun to work with! I chose to use one of the new Tilda's from the Chasing Butterflies collection. She's available at Magnolia-Licious, along with a huge array of other Magnolia stamps. Diana offers the largest selection of Magnolia stamps in North America! And she just got a huge order in, so be sure and get your favorites before they sell out again!

The DP is Bo Bunny. I just couldn't help but be drawn to the bright, fun colors! And since it's a Birthday card, the numbers on the paper just fit right in. Tilda is colored in with my Copic markers. (pic of them is below) I cut Tilda out and popped her up, so I just replace her antennae with wire.

Yum! I just bought (TWO COPIES!) of this book: Coffee Cakes: Simple, Sweet, and Savory by Lou Seibert Pappas. I've been feeling like I need a few more coffee cakes in my repertoire. Then last week, I stumbled upon this book.

It was hard to decide where to begin, but I chose Banana, Macadamia Nut, and Coconut Coffee Cake. It's almost tropical tasting with the macadamia nuts and coconut and it's really, really moist!

Here's a link to the recipe. I followed it to the letter, except I had to bake mine about 15 minutes more that the recipe states.

My sister, the seven year old and the five year old have just been staying.

As I have a small house with two double beds, I was bunking with the seven year old and my sister baggsed the five year old. A tactical manoeuvre set into tradition by her as she is well aware that sharing a bed with the seven year old is the equivalent of spending the night with a wringer washing machine.

Previously I have erected a pillow barrier down the middle of the bed for protection, however this time the seven year old insisted that her life sized stuffed chocolate Labrador would protect me from her flailing limbs.

I am a such a gullible fool.

The next morning my sister and I were having a discussion on our respective sleeps.

'The washing machine was on a spin cycle.'

'The five year old was a magnet.'

Silence.

Then, a delighted squeal from the five year old, 'Mummy, you're a fwridge!'

A clothes peg to the eyebrow does not, generally, make one prettier.

I've liked this song Buttons * by Sia cause it's kinda cute, upbeat and genki.

She's been compared to Nelly Furtado and her live performances have have had described as 'enchanting' and like 'a child’s fluorescent drawing coming to life'.

But when I saw her video I was a little creeped out.

That was until I remembered being in primary school.

How many of you sellotaped your nose to your face when you were a kid and then laughed yourself senseless?

I am not sure where Spring went this year, but it certainly flew by quickly! It's hard to believe that June is already upon us.

A new challenge from Bitten By The Bug and a new BLOG HOP!

Happy Monday everyone. Sure hope you had a wonderful weekend! Monday means it's time for another Bitten By The Bug challenge, and this week we're having a blog hop. YAY! More opportunities for you to win some fun stuff! First things first. The new challenge to you this week is to use the mushroom cut from the Tinker Bell cartridge. What a cute cut! You know I bought this cartridge, and didn't think I'd ever use it. But I'm really glad now I have it! It's got some great cuts on it, not just Tinker Bell and her friends. I got mine from Hallmark Scrapbook.

The DP is Bo Bunny that I've been hoarding. :0) And the cardstock is Bazzill. Isn't that little fairy just the cutest? I went looking for a certain type of fairy to go with my mushroom, and I finally found her. She was exactly what I was looking for. She's a downloadable from Dustin Pike, and I love her! She's colored with my Copic markers.

The sentiment is computer generated and then cut out with my Nestabilities, and the swirl was cut with a Sizzix die and then cut and pieced so they fell where I wanted them. I was trying to portray some "birthday wishes" swirling from her, so I covered them with stickles, along with her wand. Lots of machine stitching on this one, too. I just wanted a very whimsical, cute birthday card for a very special friend that is celebrating her birthday today. *wink* Sorry it's going to be a little late, ladybug!
