Me: "Such and and such is happy as a clam."

Nine year old: "Why is it happy-as-a-clam ?"

Me: "Don't know, maybe clams seem contented?"

Nine year old: "Well, why don't they say happy-as-a-hungry-lion-eating-a-human?"
